My name is Sonam Choephel. I was born in 1980, and I am 30 years old. My birthplace is Tehor Beri Monastery in Tibet. In 1986 I started schooling in Dargyay Monastery for two years, and from 1988 to 1990 i studied in Karze Religious School. In the beginning of 1993, i got the golden opportunity to be involved in political activities, for the promotion of Tibet FREEDOM. But on account of Chinese strict restrictions and deprived of financial support, I faced lots of problems. However I sacrificed my family and continued working for the Tibetan cause. My prime aim of coming into exile in 1996 is to have a good connection with the concerned Tibetan government in exile, and to bring, as much as possible, political information back to Tibet. Seeing the reality of Tibetans in India really encouraged me to move forward. |
